What is LGV?

It's a program, designed to let the user watch a STHS game "live" (a hockey game outputted by the Simon T Hockey Simulator). It simply shows the Play by Play to the user, and while it's showing the Play by Play, you get the score and penalties updated on the scoreboard. In future, the shots would also be shown on the scoreboard. Everything happens "live", and the user is able to "watch" the game, instead of just see the result on the website.

Background

Somewhere back in 2002 i think, I joined my first hockey simulator league, called "MAD Hockey". It was a Swedish league (FHLSim based), with big differences from the most North American leagues. The thing I loved most with the league, was the thing they called "LIVE". The GMs met in the same IRC channel every sunday, just to watch the games of the day be played "LIVE" there. The Commish displayed the games "goal by goal", and this was the highlight of the week.

The league started to struggle a bit, GMs dropped off, and I decided to start my own league. Of course, I brought "LIVE" to my own league. Now, six years and three leagues later, I'm still doing the "LIVEs" on sundays.

In April 2010, the idea to automate LIVE is born. I thought that if I could create a program, that did the same thing that I do on "LIVE", the GMs could watch every game "LIVE". But there was one problem: I have no programming skills at all...

Sunday, 2010-05-09, I have a little chat with my cousin Johan Laving. He says that "if there is something you want to be programmed, to help your league, I think I can help you". I present my idea to him, and the work starts. He does the coding, and I have the ideas.
